Our Role in a Contract

Working with the project team, we develop and plan the hydraulics scope to maximise efficiency and environmentally sustainable management with value for money options.

Other Trades Co-Ordination

We ensure all works during the design process are continuously co-ordinated with each service trade to avoid clashes e.g. in ceilings, service ducts and plant rooms. This process of coordination in the early stages starts building trust and relationship with other contractors.

Employees Experience

Smith Brothers Plumbing has over 150 employees, all with more than 4 years experience (except apprentices). Plumbers and apprentices make up 80% of our workforce. The Construction Project Management team has a combined experience of more than 80 years. Our company includes professional, technical, management, administration, supervisors, construction workers, trainees and apprentices. The structure is shown in the organisation flow chart.

Referee Reports

To measure and improve our client satisfaction, we request our clients to provide a performance report at the completion of projects. These Performance Reports are based on the DTEI requirements for pre-qualification for government works.

Skills Development

Smith Brothers Plumbing has made a long term commitment and allocated budget to ensuring that skills development will partner us in our future. We continuously assess our current and projected demands for specific skills to determine training priorities. We have a formal recording system detailing the overall plan and program.

Plant & Equipment

Smith Brothers Plumbing Construction operates much of our own plant and machinery, including directly employing plant operators. Plant includes trucks, excavators and backhoes. We maintain a store of small machinery and power tools required. All plant and equipment are maintained and safety tested according to current legislation. Power tools are Electrical test and tagged.

Sub-Contractors

We traditionally prefer to directly employ and retain the experience of our skilled and qualifiedv plumbers and project managers. Where specialist skills or equipment are required, we have established preferred subcontractors. All subcontractors are required to be inducted into our company policies, not limited to quality management, safety and environmental management.

Suppliers & Materials

We have established preferred suppliers and maintain long term relationships with our main suppliers to ensure we are afforded the best of service and access to new knowledge and products. Suppliers run regular training and information sessions for our employees. At the commencement of a project, we establish a full materials takeoff and place orders to ensure required materials are available in the quantities and time frame required. We maintain our own warehouse and store, storeman and delivery drivers. We have secure lockups and containers for onsite storage.
